SMART Local #2 is hiring a Local Union Organizer to help grow our membership, strengthen our union, and support workers in the sheet metal industry. We are looking for a motivated and dedicated individual who is ready to take on this important role.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong people skills, creative thinking, and the ability to work independently. Prior organizing experience is not required — training and mentorship will be provided.
Qualifications:
Required:
• A strong commitment to labor rights, fairness, and social justice.• Excellent people skills—someone who can build trust and connect with others.• A self-starter who is motivated, creative, and able to work independently.• Willingness to learn new skills and take on challenges.• Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings, weekends, and travel.• Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, Word, etc.) and a willingness to learn organizing tools like CRM software.Preferred (but not required):
• Previous experience in leadership roles (workplace, union, or community).• Familiarity with different aspects of the sheet metal industry.• Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) is a plus.How to Apply:
